Michelle Biel Ondas – Principal at the School City of Hammond
For Michelle, success is measured by the outcomes of her students. After working as a teacher for several years, she became an administrator to impact the lives of more children. At the young age of 29, she became an assistant principal of Donald E. Gavit Middle/High School and progressed to the role of principal after that where she’s served for the past six years.
In that time, her school was recognized as a Bronze Level School by US News and Report’s Best High Schools in the Nation, was ranked 35th in the state of Indiana for a school that challenges their students, and was named Indiana’s National Title 1 School of the Year for closing the achievement gap.
